: : How can I tune my bass drum to get the punch sound. I'm an ameteur musician, but can't seem to get the sound I want. I have the bass drum connected to a equalizer, but I don't know how to set it in the mixer. More lows, less highs?

tune your bass drumm by itself without any electronics attached to it. use thin
heads on front and batter sides for more.
bottom and resonance. if you are a heavy
player use a pinstripe on the batter side, tune both heads very loose, just past the no wrinkle point, make the hole
in the front head offset for more tone and six to eight inches in diameter, make
sure your muffling touches the front and
batter heads at the same time. dont cover
too much of the surface of the heads so
they will resonate, this will add bottom
to the sound. after you are satisfied with the sound then use your electrics to enhance the overall result.
