Hello Christina and James. I am also singer who is currently recording. here's a little bit about how I got to where I am right now (don't get me wrong, I have a long way to go before I reach my goal, but I believe I have come a long way). I met my manager online by looking through profiles ro people who were in the music business. I sent out emails to people asking them how they got where they were and if they had any advice. Most people are more willing to answer back and, in my case, my manager offered to help me out (knowing that I had no experience whatsoever), and now he has me working with a great team of well-known producers. Also, school is great. Find out if there are any performing arts schools or programs in your area. Private lessons are also great, especially if you're shy, which I was. I started out taking lessons, then when I felt comfortable, I enrolled in school to sing in front of other students. A good book to read for stage fright is "A Confident Performer" by David Rowland. I can't possibly explain everything in this message, but feel free to email me and ask me whatever you like. I'm glad to help, just as my manager did for me.
